About 4 years ago, I had a great experience with HH Gregg. I spent about $9,000 on electronics and appliances.

Good prices, honest and easy to deal with sale person. Boy have things changed! I went in this past week to purchase a new fridge, gas stove, dryer, and furniture. I had called in advance a few days before to ask questions about a couple of the products.

I spoke to a sales person (Tracy). When I went into the store, Tracy was not there, but I told other sales folks I had a short time and needed someone to help me order the appliances. Apparently NO ONE WOULD HELP ME, because I had already talked to a different sales person and they work on commission. So off I go, and come back later.

This happened 2x. The final time (when I was ready to pay for the $5,000 order; Tracy was not there, but again no one else would help me "because Tracy has your file" (my list of items that I needed to pay for that day). And then it was explained to me that the sale people at HH Gregg are so dishonest, they steal each other's leads & customers, so all the sales people have to bring their files home with them or the other employees will steal them. Oh, this is nice to know...

so these unethical appliance/furniture sales folks are running around with files with customer information (mine and others... names, addresses, phone numbers, and more personal info-- yayyy!) Are you kidding me?? The manager got the Tracy (Knoxville, TN store) on her cell phone. She said she'd be back in awhile and has my file, and asked me to come back to the store later.

Well, I went to Home Depot, and they have the exact same appliances for the same or lesser price. Tracy begged me to come back to HH Gregg and said she'd "make it worth my while". I hesitated, but went back. Back at the store, one of the managers (lady with long hair, in her 30s) was VERY rude.

Tracy/saleswoman proceeded to punch my order into the computer (it took like 30 minutes or more), and I kept trying to look at the computer, but she did not want me to look... what she was punching in did not seem right... Like it was all just fishy. She said, "Oh don't look till we're all done." I made mention that the fridge was $2.00 cheaper at Home Depot ($1997 vs.

HH Gregg price of $1999). She got the rude manager over there to do a "price adjustment" to 'match Home Depot's price". However, she still would not let me see the figures, so I ran over them verbally with her... like "Okay, the price for the fridge is $1,997; the stove is $549, etc." She said yes, those figures were right.

However, she still would not let me see it in writing. Then she talked me into the appliance 5-year service plans, because she said she was sure something would break. Then, she gave me the total -- I am not good at math in my head and my cell phone had died by the time she finished (it was over an hour ordeal sitting there). I paid (part on my HH Gregg/Synchrony credit card and part on my Visa), and then she quickly printed a receipt, folded it up, and rushed me out the door.

A few days later, my son urged me to check the prices I paid, as he said it sounded too high for what I got. I went to my car to get the printout/receipt, and sure enough, they added about $500 onto the price! Instead of price adjusting the fridge to match Home Depot, this lovely manager ADDED $500 to the price of the fridge! (I have a picture of the fridge in their store with the price tag of $1,997 on it and also a screenshot of the same fridge on their website with the same price of $1997).

However, the fridge on my receipt is in the amount of $2,772.99! I will be trying to go back to the store tomorrow to cancel the entire order (it has not been delivered yet). My husband kept telling me he had a bad feeling about them while we were sitting there, and especially after the run-around we got even trying to make a purchase there to begin with. I can't believe how unethical (and illegal?) these employees acted.

I am an honest business person. I don't understand why other people and especially businesses can't just be honest and deal fair and ethical with customers.

I will NEVER buy another thing at HH Gregg. They have lost a customer with a sizable discretionary income who would have kept buying from them due to their unscrupulous and thieving business practices.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Hhgregg Cons: Rude manager, Dishonest salesperson, Attempts to charge more for product than price tag, Poor service, Unethical and illegal practices.
